ArmInfo. As a result of the border delimitation and demarcation, Armenia will receive an internationally recognized state border to protect its sovereignty. Heriknaz Tigranyan, MP from the ruling Civil Contract faction, told reporters on April 30.
According to her, the legal basis for the delimitation and demarcation process that has begun is laid, but the opposition, putting forward a false agenda, is trying to play on people's emotions. The MP once again assured that there is no talk of any surrender of the territories. Tigranyan emphasized that during the process itself there is a need to determine the directions of delimitation, and, as necessary, adjust the borders. "People are not against this process; everyone wants to have internationally recognized borders in order to understand the ownership of roads and their location. But citizens' concerns generate discontent due to false theses about supposedly unilateral concessions," the parliamentarian said.
She expressed confidence that no matter where the border demarcation began, there would still be discontent.
On April 19, the commissions for demarcation of the border between Armenia and Azerbaijan agreed to begin demarcation of the border from the Tavush region. According to them, the description of these sections of the border line will be drawn up taking into account the clarification of the coordinates that will be obtained as a result of geodetic measurements on site. All this will be documented in the appropriate protocol description, which must be agreed upon and signed between the parties before May 15 of this year.
