ArmInfo. Artur Khachatryan, a member of the "Hayastan" opposition bloc filed a complaint to the Prosecutor General's Office against the police officers who illegally detained him.
"As you probably know, on Friday, April 26, a group of policemen from the Hrazdan section of the Yerevan-Sevan highway, without making any legal demands, inflaming and provoking a tense situation, used force against me, illegally deprived me of my freedom and 4 policemen accompanied me in a police car (!!!!)to the Hrazdan police department of the Kotayk region.
The orders were given and the brawl was provoked by the head of the Kotayk regional police department, Ruben Davtyan. I'm sure he knew very well that I was an MP. By the way, Davtyan was in civilian clothes and did not introduce himself," Khachatryan wrote on the social network.
As the MP notes, on the way he expressed his surprise and indignation, especially because they do not have the right to detain a member of the National Assembly, but the police did not react. And they told him that "he was not detained" already at the police station.
"What happened on Friday was the clearest manifestation of a police state. In fact, a police officer in Armenia puts himself above the law and gives himself the right to violate the Constitution of the country. I hope that the crime will not go unpunished. Otherwise, it will be even more difficult for the current authorities to deny that police brutality is being committed on their direct orders," the oppositionist emphasized.
On April 26, in support of Tavush residents, citizens closed the Yerevan-Sevan highway in the Hrazdan section. A quarrel broke out between them and the police trying to open the road. The police began to detain people. Among the latter is MP Artur Khachatryan. After this process, the police forcefully opened the road.
