ArmInfo. Armenian FM Ararat Mirzoyan, who is on an official visit to Qatar, held a meeting with Mr. Hassan bin Abdullah Al-Ghanim, Speaker of the Shura Council of Qatar.
According to the press service of the Armenian Foreign Ministry, the parties mutually emphasized the importance of developing political dialogue between Armenia and Qatar, which is given significant impetus by mutual high-level visits.
"Our bilateral relations have great potential for development, and parliamentary ties play a role in this," Mirzoyan said, adding that friendly groups have already been formed in both parliaments.
The interlocutors emphasized that relations between the two countries, as well as between Armenia and the countries of the Arab world in a broader sense, are based on the historical ties that have developed between the two peoples, and the vision and prospects for development are based on the economic desire for development and prosperity.
Mirzoyan added that the opening of the RA Embassy in Qatar in 2019 and Qatar in Yerevan in 2023 are clear evidence of the commitment to make joint concrete efforts to develop relations both on a bilateral basis and on the platform of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
The interlocutors also touched upon current challenges in the context of modern geopolitical processes.
The Armenian Foreign Minister also spoke about the provision of humanitarian assistance by the Armenian government to internally displaced persons from the Gaza Strip as part of efforts aimed at alleviating the situation of the civilian population.
Touching upon efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the South Caucasus, Mirzoyan presented steps being taken towards normalizing relations with neighbors, including Armenia's position on key issues enshrined in the draft peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Speaking about the topics of regional interdependence, the Armenian minister also introduced to his interlocutor the "Crossroads of Peace" program developed by the RA government as the basis for sustainable development.
