ArmInfo. Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan has addressed a message on Citizen's Day.
"Today we celebrate Citizen's Day, which appeared on our calendar after the People's Nonviolent Velvet Revolution of 2018 to mark the actual confirmation of the long-proclaimed resolution that power in the Republic of Armenia belongs to the people.
This resolution is now an irreversible reality in Armenia, and this is also confirmed by the events of recent years, when the once elites, who could decide in small meetings who will be the government and who will be the opposition, are no longer able to do this, since they have the right to make such decisions, and only one subject has such an opportunity, and this subject is the Citizen of the Republic of Armenia, and the collective of citizens is the People.
It is the anointing of the Citizen as the supreme bearer of power that occurred during the People's, non- violent, velvet revolution of 2018, and it is the anointed Citizen that allows us to confront the most difficult challenges that have befallen us in recent years.
The main goal of these tests is our independence, sovereignty and statehood, and the anointing of a citizen is not the main reason for these tests, but the ability to overcome them," the message says.
"The most important of them is territorial integrity, without which the state cannot exist, and one of the key issues on our agenda, which we are now addressing, is the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia, reproducing the internationally recognized borders of our country. The country as the basis of our independence, sovereignty, statehood, and the Citizen, with his calm guarantor of statehood, guarantees that we are resolutely following this path.
The next most important guarantee of the existence of the state is a popular agreement on a balanced relationship between rights and responsibilities, a popular decision recorded in the legal foundations of the state, and at some point we must also achieve this strategic goal so that the country has a legal system, a system of rights and responsibilities - his own, that of a citizen, he considers what he has created, and not what some circles have imposed on him. The legal order created by the consciousness and decision of citizens is the most important condition for sovereignty and statehood, and therefore the foundations of our statehood must be strengthened and strengthened," the message further says.
Speaking about the reasons for the trials that Armenia is facing today, Pashinyan assured that this is due to the fact that "no one can live safely, with dignity, safely and happily in their home without tidying up the doors, windows, roof and fence of this house. During the 2018 Revolution, we knew that the doors, windows, roof and fence of our home, the Republic of Armenia, needed to be put in order, otherwise there would be no need for the Revolution."
"In 2018, we decided to be masters without thinking about the consequences. It's not that we didn't think about the consequences without understanding, but we didn't think about them when we realized, because there is no point in thinking about the consequences of being ourselves : You just have to decide whether you want to be yourself or not.
We have decided that we are masters, and we are on the path to becoming masters. And we will successfully walk this path, because the will of the citizens of the Republic of Armenia to have a free, sovereign, safe, happy state is strong as a rock, and our spirit is unbending," the premier's message reads.
