ArmInfo. President of the RA National Academy of Sciences Ashot Saghyan and Stamatios Krimigis signed a memorandum of cooperation in Athens.
According to the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Armenia, the signing ceremony of the memorandum was attended by the former President of Greece, member of the Academy of Athens, Professor Prokopios Pavlopoulos, RA Ambassador to Greece Tigran Mkrtchyan, former President of the Academy of Athens Michael Stathopoulos and Secretary General of the Academy of Athens Christos Zerefos.
As part of the cooperation, it is planned to implement joint research programs, organize conferences, congresses, seminars, summer schools, as well as jointly implement programs for the exchange of scientists and the publication of scientific materials. It is also planned to implement joint events aimed at strengthening public opinion about the role of science.
Cooperation will cover a number of areas: mathematics, computer science and engineering, mechanics, new materials and advanced technologies, quality of life, biomedicine and biotechnology, biodiversity, bioresources and ecology, climate change, natural and man-made disasters, astronomy, space exploration and technology, historical and cultural heritage and national identity, man and society.
Ashot Saghyan, during his visit to Greece, together with the Armenian community, took part in an event dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide in the Ottoman Empire.
