ArmInfo.7 citizens were detained in Yerevan in connection with the incident that happened during the visit of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's wife, Anna Hakobyan, to the Tsitsernakaberd memorial complex on April 24. The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia reports.
Yesterday, on April 24, wife of the Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, Anna Hakobyan, separately from the government delegation, together with her youngest daughter and accompanied by a large number of security officers, arrived in Tsitsernakaberd to lay flowers.
Citizens greeted Anna Hakobyan in Tsitsernakaberd with chants of "Nikol the traitor", "Nikol the murderer", "Nikol the land giver" and "Armenia without Turks." Hakobyan managed to approach the Eternal Flame and lay flowers only with the help of the police.
The actions of citizens who thus expressed their protest against the policy being pursued today by the Armenian Prime Minister and his team were assessed by the Investigative Committee as the spread of hatred, intolerance and enmity.
"In connection with the incident, proceedings were initiated on the grounds of clause 1, part 2, article 329 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia (Public speech aimed at inciting or promoting hatred, discrimination, intolerance or enmity on the part of a group of persons, as well as distribution of materials or objects for this purpose) ", stated the Investigative Committee of Armenia.
Meanwhile, as the lawyer of the detainees, Arayik Papikyan, told the Armenian media representatives, about a hundred people were detained yesterday.
Experts are inclined to believe that Hakobyan deliberately visited the complex separately from her husband and accompanied by a minor child. According to them, Hakobyan, who has excellent knowledge of NLP technologies and knows the mood of people, went to the complex at a time when the opposition was there. With such behavior, Hakobyan tried to divert public attention from the processes taking place in Tavush and discredit the opposition.
