ArmInfo. The process of border delimitation process and demarcation is accompanied by a number of difficulties. Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan stated on April 25 in a conversation with journalists.
According to him, there are a number of sections where the Armenian side has expanded, in others the Azerbaijani side, and the purpose of the delimitation process is to define the Armenian-Azerbaijani border "on the ground".
At this stage, this process has been started to clarify the borders. "I am very glad that we have come to the stage where we are already seting border pillars and securing the official border, which will be secured not only on the Armenian side, but also on the Azerbaijani side.
The speaker expressed surprise at the prevailing opinion that the process is a concession from the Armenian side. "Do you really consider defining the borders of the state a concession? Show me the territory transferred to Azerbaijan, which is the territory of Armenia. It seems that people are constantly being put in the position of crazy people. We have repeatedly stated that we will not cede a single centimeter of our territory of 29.8 thousand sq. km," the speaker noted, adding that today, anyone who has access to the Internet reports the alleged surrender of certain sections of the border.
He assured that in those areas where Armenia had expanded, the Armenian side will withdraw, and Azerbaijan will do the same. Against this background, it is unacceptable to manipulate public opinion. According to Simonyan, legitimate borders are the very guarantee of security that is talked about a lot. "The question that we can fight with Turkey, Azerbaijan, Pakistan and Arab mercenaries rests on the number of deaths both on this side and on the other side. But we need to completely remove the very idea of war from our agenda, Azerbaijan should do the same, which will become a guarantee of security for both states," said the head of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
He noted that at the moment there is no Armenian settlement that is under the control of Azerbaijan. "If there is such a settlement, then let them name it. I can name the settlements that Azerbaijan is talking about. Can those who criticize from the Armenian side name such a settlement?" the speaker asked.
At the prompting of the journalists who cited the example of Artsvashen, the Speaker of the National Assembly came to his senses, recognizing this village as the territory of Armenia. He noted that negotiations on it will continue. "This is part of our sovereign territory. When the conversation comes about enclaves, we will talk about it," noted the head of the Armenian legislative body. As for the territories of 31 villages, as the speaker emphasized, we are talking about vital territories. "I want to understand what all the protesters were doing during the war? Nothing, but now they are busy with idle talk. Now they, including at the instigation of a third country, are busy unleashing a conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, so that "problem solvers and peacekeepers will come." We don't need peacekeepers, we need to control the borders. We have borders, and now Aliyev said something for the internal audience, for bargaining with Russia and Turkey and something else. I am very little interested in this.
I'm interested in reality. But reality means that Azerbaijan and Armenia, as Aliyev also stated, have an undisputed section of the border. And there can always be a reason for an attack. Those who are trying to get dividends from these processes will not succeed, they are losers. They have nothing to say to society, and what they say is dictated from the outside. Citizens of Armenia understand this very well. Provocateurs, who are the fifth column, are trying to play on people's emotions. These are people who have lost power and are now trying to organize a provocation. They have nothing to offer the people. When the time comes to listen to the opinion of the people, we will listen to the opinion of the people. This is also being done now. The Prime Minister of Armenia periodically meets with villagers," said the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
It should be noted that today protest movements in Armenia have begun to gain momentum, caused by the intention of the country's authorities to transfer four villages in the Tavush region to the control of Azerbaijan, receiving in return nothing but new threats and demands from official Baku.
