Earlier Turkiye welcomed the agreement on the delimitation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border, which was reached by the two countries' relevant commissions, the Turkish Foreign Ministry said.
"We welcome the agreement reached on 19 April 2024 by the Azerbaijan-Armenia Border Delimitation Commission on the return of four villages, which have been under occupation for 30 years, to Azerbaijan and on the continuation of the delimitation works. This positive development achieved through direct negotiations is an important step towards the signing of a final peace agreement," the ministry said in a statement posted on its X account.
"Warmly welcome the agreement between Armenia and Azerbaijan on the 1991 Alma Ata Declaration as the basis for border delimitation between the two countries," President of the European Council Charles Michel said in a post on X.
"Border delimitation based on the unambiguous recognition of the territorial integrity of each country has been a key element also of discussions in Brussels and will serve as an essential step towards normalization and the peaceful opening of the entire region," the President of the European Council added.
The agreement between Azerbaijan and Armenia upon the Alma Ata Declaration of 1991 as the basis for border delimitation clears an important hurdle on the way to a peace agreement, the German Foreign Ministry wrote on X.
"Germany remains ready to do all it can to support the path to lasting peace," the ministry wrote.
Norway expects rapid progress in relations between Azerbaijan and Armenia, which will benefit the region, State Secretary of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Eivind Vad Petersson wrote on X.
"Norway welcomes the encouraging news on progress in the work towards border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan. We hope to see speedy further progress in this important work, aiming for results which will benefit both countries and the wider region," he wrote.
"Very good news for Armenia and Azerbaijan and for the entire region of South Caucasus," Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Tobias Billstrom said on X as he commented on the agreement reached by Azerbaijan and Armenia on border delimitation between the two countries.
"From this positive development we might see a lot of progress arrive in the shape of economic development, infrastructure and growth for the region, Sweden is fully committed to this end," he noted.
The U.S. Department of State and the U.N. Secretary General welcomed the agreements as well.
