ArmInfo.Yerevan and Baku agreed to return to discussions on the Armenian village of Artsvashen, controlled by Azerbaijan. Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan told reporters on April 20.
According to him, the village is included in the previously designated territory of Armenia of 29,743 square kilometers. The village is an exclave from the Armenian side, and enclave from the Azerbaijani side. The Armenian side is preparing to present a justification for Artsvashen's belonging to Armenia. "When we de jure substantiate this issue, there will be a need to carry out a process of delimiting borders around this exclave," Pashinyan said.
Artsvashen or Bashkend is a de jure Armenian village in the Chambarak Municipality of the Gegharkunik Province of Armenia, but during the first Artsakh war of 1992-1994 was captured by the Azerbaijani armed forces, after which a significant part of the population left the village.
