ArmInfo. In the village of Margara, Armavir region, 50 meters from the houses, "from very ancient times" there are Turkey and Turkish troops, our goal is to get the same situation (in Tavush - ed), Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated on April 18 at a meeting with residents of the village of Kirants, Tavush region.
The Prime Minister said that the heads of administrations of Tavush communities were involved in the work of delimitation and demarcation commissions. <Starting next week, community leaders will be provided with the necessary information. They will be present during the work on site and present their arguments. They will inform the local population about the progress of work," he noted.
The head of the Armenian Cabinet admitted that there is currently a certain tension in the villages of Kirants and Berkaber due to the need to ensure their security. As Pashinyan noted, the pessimism of local residents is unfounded, despite the fact that the current situation does not provide grounds for any optimism. "Our request and expectation is to unite in this situation, move forward step by step, understanding everything," he said.
At the same time, Pashinyan agreed with the statement of one of the villagers that the Turks cannot be trusted. "You're right. That's why we all want to do this. We want a document that will contain mutual obligations. If we don't do this, I can 100% guarantee that we will not be able to provide security. While the process is going on, my optimism, frankly, is growing. If we do not follow this path, we will not achieve our goal," the prime minister emphasized.
In response to the villager's remark that the local bridge has always been on the territory of Armenia, how did it happen that today it is on the territory of Azerbaijan, Pashinyan assured that the RA authorities know the borders of the republic with millimeter precision. At the same time, according to him, this bridge solves the issues of "meters", and not "not kilometers", and a new bridge can be built. As the Prime Minister once again noted, "this is not about the road, but about the security of Armenia and decisions must be made."
"Our goal, our idea is for you to say: "Azerbaijan is 50 meters away" not with alarm, but to say: "It's good that Azerbaijan is 50 meters away, we will engage in trade there, build a farm." A checkpoint may also be built through which cars will pass and the Republic of Armenia will pay for it," Pashinyan said, once again stating the absence of 100% guarantees.
"If we do not take these steps, we guarantee that there will be a new explosion in the region. We are faced with the task of ensuring the rule of law in the region, since over the past 30 years we have lived in an atmosphere of lawlessness. We say that the era of lawlessness must be stopped both on our and their (Azerbaijan - ed.) side. There is a right, a law, a line, and by following this line, Armenia will become a hundred times stronger," concluded Nikol Pashinyan.
