ArmInfo. A preventive measure in the form of house arrest and a bail of 7 million drams was applied to Samvel Vardanyan, who was detained for insulting the deputy of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia from the ruling Civil Contract faction Hakob Aslanyan. The Yerevan court of general jurisdiction made a relevant decision.
Earlier, lawyer Ruben Melikyan reported that the investigation supplemented the charge against Samvel Vardanyan with an article about inciting hostility and intolerance on a political basis. Now he faces 1 to 4 years in prison. According to him, the defense intends to submit a crime report regarding torture against Vardanyan to the investigative body.
According to the Investigative Committee, the incident occurred on April 15 between 14:10 and 14:30 in the area of Arshakunyats-Agatangehos streets. An unknown (at that time) citizen voiced threats against Hakob Aslanyan, "allowed himself to engage in antisocial behavior" (the wording of the Investigative Committee), grossly violated public order, and also spoke out "spreading hatred towards the political force of expression." Based on the report, criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 1 of Article 297. On the same day, at about 17:15, Yerevan resident S.V. was brought to the police department on suspicion of committing the "above hooligan act." (Samvel Vardanyan). The latter himself came to the body carrying out the proceedings and was detained.
