ArmInfo. The current authorities of Armenia are lying, assuring the public that there is no alternative to the shameful concessions to Baku, member of the "Group of Alternative Projects" Vahe Hovhannisyan writes.
The expert stated that there are no simple solutions. However, according to him, a hopeless option is being imposed on the Armenian people. The incompetence of "official Yerevan" is being imposed on us, and they say there is no alternative to this. These authorities lied to their people both before and after the elections. They lied on all issues, including the fact that they were negotiating to carry out proper delimitation. And now they are lying that there are no other solutions other than shameful concessions. But there are solutions," stated Hovhannisyan.
The expert listed 4 specific steps to get out of the situation into which the current Armenian authorities have driven the country.
"The first step is a front with broad consolidation: associations, individuals, the church. The unifying idea of His Holiness Bagrat is "Resistance to Evil." We must admit that our reality, morality, the future drawn for us is evil in the truest sense of the word, and the fight against it involves simple human qualities and the decisions of hundreds of thousands of people.
Step two - unlike the current government, we must say that we know what to do. They have placed Armenia at the center of the clash between the West and Russia and convince us that there is no way out. Of course, this is a very difficult situation, but there are solutions. Back in January, I published an article about how Armenia has essentially become a BRICS border (Iran has been a BRICS member since January 1), which opens up serious economic opportunities. This may allow us to get out of the extremely dangerous choice between Russia and the West. It is necessary to get out of this trap and build relations with both Russia and the West with a real agenda. The opposition can make this topic key in its actions," the expert is confident.
Speaking about the third step, he noted that the most dangerous consequence of the Brussels pilgrimage was that Armenia found itself in new regional isolation. According to him, it turned out that Armenia's geographical neighbors - Iran, Russia, Turkey, Azerbaijan, although with different motives, became like- minded people in this episode, against us.
"To get out of this dangerous isolation, it is possible to develop a 3+3 formula and, together with the West, insist on the implementation of the already signed agenda of the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership between Armenia and the European Union (CEPA, within the framework of which the Artsakh problem with prospects for settlement still remains unresolved), and not develop an anti-Russian agenda. The idea of expanding and developing CEPA can be put on the agenda, but never the principle of turning it into an anti- Russian platform at the behest of the West," the expert added.
Hovhannisyan called the fourth step the development of a new formula for bilateral relations with Russia, which can help Armenia in the current new realities (taking into account the presence of certain objective problems with the CSTO).
"A new formula for bilateral relations in the logic of "what we expect and what we get" could be a way out of the situation, replacing broken mechanisms.
We have many different interesting options for political, diplomatic, as well as economic steps. But today the country stands before the podium in a helpless state and does not know what to do. The format of those who know must finally capture this platform - along with everyone, including today's capable persons of the state system. Simply put, our society needs to be shown a clear road map of steps to take the country on a reasonable path," concluded Hovhannisyan.
