ArmInfo. At a meeting of the heads of foreign policy departments of the CIS countries in a narrow format, the issue of interference of external forces in the affairs of the Commonwealth countries was raised. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov stated on April 12 in Minsk at a press conference following a meeting of the CIS Council of Foreign Ministers in response to the question whether the topic of interference by external forces in the affairs of the Commonwealth countries was discussed at today's meeting.
According to the Russian minister, everyone understands everything. "The United States and its 'satellites' are trying to invade all regions of our common space. They are trying to undermine the agreements on stabilizing the situation in the South Caucasus, in particular. They do not want to allow the implementation of the agreements reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan with the assistance of Russia. They are also trying to infiltrate Central Asia in a very active way," Lavrov said, adding that various formats are being created aimed against the Russian Federation.
At the same time, the Russian minister assured that Russia's allies and strategic partners, under enormous pressure, remain committed to the basic principles on which cooperation within the CIS, CSTO, EAEU, and SCO is based.
"I am sure that in strategic terms, the Western line is doomed to failure. They can, through blackmail, ultimatums, and threats, force out some actions that do not help develop cooperation within the CIS, but these are one-time situations that do not predetermine the general movement towards deliverance from the dictates of the West. This is a historical process, and concerns not only our space, but also the global situation as a whole," the head of the Russian Foreign Ministry summed up. Notably, Armenia was represented at the event by Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan.
