ArmInfo.Armenian-Russian relations are going through difficult times. At the same time, it is difficult to overestimate their special importance for Armenian statehood, sovereignty, economy and security, Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan stated in Parliament, on April 10.
Once again, Pashinyan noted that the Armenian authorities did not make any mistakes in relations with Russia. And there is not a single story in which the partners could accuse Armenia of failure to fulfill obligations. But, unfortunately, there are many opposite cases, he noted.
"But I also want to emphasize that we do not want to argue with Russia. And not for the reason that we do not have such an opportunity and strength, but because we appreciate the colossal positive that was and is in our relations," Pashinyan said.
According to the Armenian prime minister, it is important to understand what and why is happening in relations - in depth and conceptually. According to him, the following is happening - a transition from relations between "historical Armenia" and Russia to relations between "real Armenia" and Russia. "This is sometimes as painful as the internal transformation in Armenia itself in the transition from "historical Armenia" to "real" one. But we need to do everything to fill this transformation with "positive stories". "Armenia is ready for such work with Russia," he noted.
According to Pashinyan, at the first meeting with President Putin in May 2018, they agreed that relations would be based on mutual respect for sovereignty, statehood and interests. As the Prime Minister indicated, he is ready for such a dialogue.
