ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities' readiness to start border delimitation from Tavush is not a guarantee against war with Azerbaijan, Armenia's premier Nikol Pashinyan stated in Parliament on April 10.
"We are not against starting the delimitation process from the Tavush region of Armenia and four villages of the Gazakh region of Azerbaijan," he said.
According to him, in this context, questions are raised about whether delimitation in this area guarantees the security of Armenia. "Answer - it does not guarantee. But failure to resolve the issues guarantees a consistent increase in threats to the country's security. And we first of all need to neutralize this negative guarantee," he said.
This style of behavior of Yerevan, he pointed out, also does not guarantee against a new attack on the territory of Armenia. "But the opposite absolutely guarantees a new attack on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. Delimitation in Tavush also does not guarantee that Azerbaijan will agree, within the framework of delimitation in other areas, to return vital territories of more than 30 Armenian villages to Armenia," he said, emphasizing, however, that delimitation must be carried out in any case.
Earlier, at a meeting with residents of the village of Voskepar in Tavush, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan threatened war if the Armenian side refused to transfer 4 villages to Baku. The topic of delimitation of the border with Azerbaijan and territorial concessions became relevant again after on March 9, the office of Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev stated that as part of the process of delimitation and demarcation of the border with Armenia, "issues of the liberation of 4 exclave villages must be resolved immediately."
