ArmInfo. The Armenian authorities are forming in the public consciousness the idea of the need for concessions to Azerbaijan, Armen Rustamyan of the opposition parliamentary faction Armenia told reporters on April 9.
According to him, a clearly programmed process continues to achieve the set goal. "Recently, Nikol Pashinyan visited the border regions of the country, where he, threatening local residents with the possibility of war, is going to surrender some villages," the deputy noted, adding that the shots heard from Azerbaijan against the background of this process are a continuation of this policy. The authorities' assurances that the shots were isolated and did not pose any danger do not stand up to criticism. "In this case, why are you instilling fear in the people? But the goal is one: to surrender parts of the territory of Armenia, while satisfying the demands of Azerbaijan," the MP said.
He pointed out that there are currently no negotiations between Yerevan and Baku in international formats; we are talking only about some verbal agreements, which are accompanied by a tense situation on the borders in order for Azerbaijan and Turkey to get the results they need.
Rustamyan noted that Baku's plans are far-reaching, and it will not limit itself to the demand for control over four villages in the Tavush region. Against this background, the Armenian authorities declare their consent to concessions, but do not know where they end. Meanwhile, according to the oppositionist, the goal of the republican authorities is the liquidation of Armenia and the creation of Western Azerbaijan on its territory. Rustamyan did not rule out the possibility that Azerbaijan, after single shots, would move on to large-scale military action in order to immediately solve all existing problems. "After local actions, the enemy managed to achieve some results, but now it is quite possible that Azerbaijan will launch a full-scale attack, especially when we ourselves declare that this or that territory is not ours. Thus, we invite the enemy to our lands," the MP said.
He emphasized that no matter how much the authorities announced that the issue of the so-called Zangezur corridor was being removed from the agenda, the 9th point of the trilateral statement by the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan continues to be valid. "But I dare to assure you that the Azerbaijani authorities will not limit themselves to this corridor, they will do everything possible to ensure that Armenia loses its geopolitical factor. By surrendering 4 villages in Tavush, we will receive a powerful geopolitical blow, up to the loss of the road towards Georgia. Baku really wants to take it under its control. control of all strategically important roads of Armenia. All other demands of Azerbaijan are a matter of technology. Armenia has been brought to such an extent that it cannot even protect its minimal interests," Armen Rustamyan concluded.
