ArmInfo. Politics should not be taken seriously as something static, when everyone expects a result, and in the absence of it there is a feeling of disappointment. A similar point of view was expressed by security expert and political scientist Armine Margaryan, speaking at parliamentary hearings on the European integration of Armenia.
According to her, to achieve results it is necessary to go a long way, to carry out hard work that requires additional resources. But this work will ultimately lead to sustainable development of the country. On the way to this goal, Armenia should take several steps for this path to be successful.
Pointing to the hybrid war waged against Armenia, Margaryan mentioned the need to fight against hybrid wars, in which all operations are carried out simultaneously. Yerevan's steps in this direction should also be hybrid. And in this context, the issue of Armenia's joining the European Union also needs to be considered in the context of hybrid actions. For that, Yerevan should start the process of withdrawing from the CSTO, but if this withdrawal is based on the issue of the republic's non-aligned status, then one should think long before taking this step. "By leaving the CSTO and declaring non-align status, Armenia will close the door to joining other military-political blocs. In this regard, the issue of European integration will become a convenient opportunity to achieve this goal, which will allow us to manage the risks that may arise due to the actions of neighboring countries, and those concerns that our strategic ally, Iran, may have," the political scientist noted.
She also pointed to relations with Russia, with which it is very important to take an inventory of the legal framework to assess those areas of cooperation that work and which do not. "If something does not work, but can be used, it is necessary to take this step, and if in any case something does not work, it is important to look for other partners," Margaryan noted, urging to be patient, because there will not be an easy way to the EU, but with a competent policy, all risks on the way to European integration will become manageable.
