Why do Armenia`s authorities compare ancient civilization "to a  community in crisis?" - Maria Zakharova 

ArmInfo. The current Armenian authorities in vain compare the ancient Armenian civilization, which  has a centuries-old history, with the European Union, whose affairs are frankly bad today, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova believes.

"I saw the summary of our conversation today and saw a quote from one  of the representatives of the official structures of Armenia, who  said that Armenia is the bearer of European democratic and some kind  of values," she said on the Zvezda TV channel. - Do you know what  strikes me? And why are the representatives of the current  authorities in Yerevan dumping so much? Why do they compare the  ancient Armenian civilization - with culture, history, statehood,  which was, excuse me, long before European democracy - with the  current European Union, which is really in a dead end? And this is  exactly what they are talking about when they cite words about  European democracy."

"Armenia is a culture, it is a state structure and these are the  foundations of statehood that go back thousands of years. They have a  thousand-year history," Zakharova continued and stressed that Yerevan  has found itself "a model that no one in the West is talking about  seriously."

She recalled one of the statements of former US Undersecretary of  State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, who "sent the European  Union trying to formulate what she probably could not formulate in  censored words": "the point was that this is an absolutely amorphous,  weak-willed, collapsing structure."

The official representative of the diplomatic department drew  attention to the fact that now the situation of the EU is fully  visible, taking into account political, economic, social and legal  indicators. "It's not going anywhere, it's all falling apart,"  Zakharova stressed.

And now, according to her, a representative of an ancient  civilization with a thousand-year history, "as if he was shown a  mirror in exchange for a diamond, ruby or emerald," asks to relate  himself "to a community in crisis."
