ArmInfo. The April War of 2016 was a heroic battle. A member of the Armenian parliament from the opposition faction "Armenia", ex-Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia Seyran Ohanyan wrote.
"In 4 days, the Artsakh Defense Army crushed the enemy's offensive front in different directions, failed all his far-reaching plans and again forced the enemy to ask for peace - of course, under the command of the military-political leadership of Artsakh and with the support of a united detachment of thousands of volunteers.
Eternal glory to those heroes who, from the first Artsakh war to the present day, dedicated their lives to their homeland.
And although today the legally created Republic of Artsakh has been completely de-Armenized and surrendered, and the military-political leadership legally elected by the people of Artsakh is in the prisons of Azerbaijan, and in parallel with this, the government of Armenia is scaring the people with war, the Armenians have no moral right to renounce their native land," Ohanyan noted.
At the same time, he emphasized that the Armenian people do not thirst for war, but they are not afraid of war either. "The Armenian people do not need a government that scares them. Only under the leadership of national forces can we fight and live in the name of Armenian Artsakh and Armenia," the general concluded.
Today, on the 8th anniversary of the April War of 2016, on behalf of the third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan, a wreath was laid at the memorial of liberator soldiers in the Ereblur military pantheon.
Eight years ago on the night of April 2, 2016, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces committed large-scale military aggression against Artsakh. The war was accompanied by war crimes, gross violations of the laws and customs of war, as well as international humanitarian law.
