ArmInfo. Russia welcomes any interest from civil society in various countries that want to become conductors of interesting interstate projects at their level without a government component. Official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova stated at a briefing on March 27, answering a question about Moscow's position on the Armenia-BRICS forum against the backdrop of Yerevan's aspirations for membership in the European Union.
According to the Russian diplomat, the organizers of the upcoming forum in Yerevan were non- governmental organizations that considered it important for themselves to discuss issues of developing cooperation. "This is important for Russia, including in the context of its chairmanship in BRICS," Zakharova said, adding that this approach applies to other tracks.
As the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted, everything that will benefit the people of Armenia is only welcomed. "At the same time, it is important that a 'bloodthirsty wolf' or saber- toothed tiger' is not hidden under the 'sheep's clothing' of 'EU chants'. That's the problem," Zakharova noted.
According to her, this is how Western institutions are being introduced into economic projects, into the internal life of various countries that are just picking up the pace of development and are at the stage of democratic transition. World's capital, as Zakharova said, should not violate the centuries-old foundations and traditions that make up the national culture of countries.
Earlier it was reported that the first "Armenia-BRICS" international forum on economic cooperation, will be held in Yerevan on March 30. The forum is organized by the "Together" public organization with the support of the Russian-Armenian Business Council. The partners of the event are leading business and analytical centers from the BRICS countries and Armenia. The purpose of the forum will be to analyze the possibilities for developing economic ties and discuss the prospects for cooperation between Yerevan and the BRICS countries.
