ArmInfo. No discussions have so far been held on the issue of Armenia's new Constitution, Minister of Justice Grigor Minasyan told reporters.
According to him, work was carried out on constitutional amendments, as a result of which a corresponding concept was developed and sent to the RA government. However, after the initiative of the head of the Armenian Cabinet, who brought up for public discussion the idea of adopting a completely new Constitution, no discussions were held. "We expect that a meeting of the members of the Commission and the Council for Constitutional Amendments with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia will take place in the near future, after which issues related to the question of what exactly is planned to be changed will be resolved," Mr Minasyan said.
He added that internal work is currently ongoing on amendments to the Basic Law of the country, in particular, on those articles for which problems were recorded. Internal monitoring of these articles is being carried out, and after a meeting with the Prime Minister, further directions of work will be clarified. "Work on the draft constitutional reforms will be synchronized with today's realities," the minister said.
