Securing "Armenia`s security guarantor" status to Turkey is  equivalent to recognizing Baku`s sovereignty over Artsakh - expert

The expert stated that there are more and more reports in the  Armenian media, in which the ideas that "Turkey can be a guarantor of  Armenia's security", "Armenia should integrate into the economic,  transport and logistics projects of the Turkic world" run like a    "red thread".

"To say that this trend is something unexpected would be a lie. It  has been repeatedly said that the "operator" of NATO and the West in  general in the region is Turkey, and integration into the "civilized  family of the West" for Armenia means integration into the Turkic  world.

By and large, it is precisely this option for the integration of  Armenia (and the entire Transcaucasus as a whole) into the Turkic  world that is proposed by the EU Special Representative for the South  Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, Toivo Klaar, when he says that  Turkey can be useful in the matter of establishing regional peace as  a leading country in the region," the expert added.

At the same time, Matevosyan is confident that in terms of its  consequences, securing Turkey's status as a "guarantor of Armenia's  security" (which can only happen with the withdrawal of the entire  Russian military presence from Armenia) is equal to the recognition  of Baku's sovereignty over Artsakh (October 6, 2022, Prague).

The political scientist believes that it is worth putting an equal  sign between these two phenomena, since Turkey's strategic plans  regarding Armenia do not differ from Baku's strategic goals regarding  Artsakh.  "Moreover, even the sequence of steps may be the same as it  was in the case of the recognition of Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.

Foremost, under the "guarantees of Western partners" that they will  not allow attacks on the territorial integrity of the Republic of  Armenia by Turkey if Armenia secures its status as a non-bloc  country, Pashinyan's government may take this suicidal step for the  country.

Furthermore, since no one has canceled the surrender of the  "enclaves", and Pashinyan announced only the first episode of this  political series in Tavush, before Armenia gets the status of a  non-aligned country, Baku and Ankara will already have control over  Armenia's vital communications (interstate roads on Georgia and Iran,  Iranian and Georgian gas pipelines). And in the absence of a Russian  contingent, this will make it possible to repeat the 'blockade trick'  with the Republic of Armenia.
