ArmInfo. Studying the written heritage of the peoples of Armenia and Iran allows us to better know ourselves, Armenia's Minister of Education and Science Zhanna Andreasyan stated at her meeting with Dr Akbar Irani, Director-Research Institute for Documentary Heritage (Miras Maktoob).
As the press service of the Ministry of Education and Science reports, during the meeting the minister emphasized the importance of the Armenian-Iranian conference "Poetry of Images" that started in Matenadaran, noting that its purpose is to make Armenian-Iranian medieval literature and art more visible.
"Studying the written heritage allows, first of all, to better know ourselves, our centuries-old connections. This is the wealth that we both have," said Zhanna Andreasyan.
The agreements reached during the recent working visit of the Matenadaran delegation to Iran were discussed at the meeting. The need to organize professional courses in the field of educational programs and restoration was particularly emphasized. Matenadaran Director Arayik Khzmalyan, who was present at the meeting, pointed out the need to develop cooperation that is equivalent to the Armenian-Iranian historical heritage. He said that as part of his visit to Iran, meetings were held with the leaders of the spiritual and manuscript centers of Spahan, Goma and Tehran, museums and representatives of the Armenian community. Agreements were reached on cooperation on the restoration of manuscripts, conducting joint research, exchanging digital copies, organizing scientific events and publishing materials.
Akbar Irani, in turn, invited the Armenian side to consider the possibility of cooperation in expanding and revising the list of programs related to Arabic and Persian heritage, publishing 5 Armenian manuscripts in 4 languages in Tehran, as well as an Armenian-Iranian dictionary.
During the meeting, issues related to the teaching of the Persian language in public schools in Armenia were also discussed. Zhanna Andreasyan emphasized the importance of teaching regional languages, which is recorded in the program of activities of the RA government for 2021-2026.
