ArmInfo. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan issued an address on the occasion of the International Francophonie Day and the 2024 Francophonie Days that have already started in the country.
The message, in particular, says: "Together with the family of Francophones, Armenia celebrates today the International Day of Francophonie (OIF), and the traditional two-month celebration of Francophonie in our country, which begins this year with a completely new and responsible commitment for us in the context of an important decision to host the 2027 Francophonie Sports and Cultural Games in Armenia.
The unanimous decision to hold this prestigious international event in Armenia testifies to our country's unconditional commitment to the values professed by the OIF and about the full confidence of the Organization and partner states towards Armenia. Armenia is committed to organizing the Francophonie Games at a high level, bringing together the various athletes and artists of the Francophonie family in one place under the values of peace, democracy and human rights.
This year's bimonthly celebration of Francophonie is also symbolic because in 2024 the whole world celebrates the 100th anniversary of the world famous chansonnier, French-Armenian singer Charles Aznavour. This important anniversary, at the joint proposal of Armenia and France and with the unanimous support of the Francophonie group of states, was included in the UNESCO calendar of anniversaries of famous people and important events for 2024-2025.
Aznavour said: "France is the land of my heart and my language. " These words fully reflect the exceptional character of the humanistic, unifying and encouraging cultural diversity of Francophonie. And this year, Francophonie in Armenia will unite the leading cultural and educational figures of our country under one roof: dozens of universities, schools, theaters, libraries, cultural centers will speak French for two months, live in the colors of Francophonie and celebrate this unique holiday of diversity.
According to tradition, with the active participation of government departments of Armenia, local government bodies, diplomatic missions of French-speaking countries accredited in the Republic of Armenia and French-speaking non-governmental organizations, about 800 cultural and educational events will be held throughout the country."
