ArmInfo.The presence of European observers in Armenia should not be perceived as a factor in  the conflict of interests of geopolitical centers. MP from the <Armenia> opposition faction Gegham Manukyan stated on March 19 from the rostrum of parliament.

According to him, it is obvious that there are such developments.  More recently, after the tragic consequences of the Nerkin Hand  incident, Secretary of the RA Security Council Armen Grigoryan  hastened to blame Russia for this incident, saying that Russian  border guards did not allow European observers to the scene of the  incident. "A day later, the National Security Service of Armenia  issued a refutation of this statement, noting that there were no  obstacles," Manukyan emphasized, adding that the mandate that the  observers received is important for the Armenian opposition. As the  oppositionist continued, it is especially important whether  representatives of third countries, for example, Turkiye, will  suddenly be able to be part of the EU mission.

The MP emphasized that at the very moment when the National Assembly  is discussing the agreement with the EU on the status of European  observers submitted for ratification, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol  Pashinyan threatens the local residents of Tavush with a new war if  Yerevan does not hand over the four villages. In other words, the EU  mission is in Armenia, but we are threatened with a new war,"  Manukyan said.

In response, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of  Armenia Mnatsakan Safaryan noted that agreement on the presence of  observers from third countries in the mission is achieved through  political dialogue, as was the case with the representative of  Canada. In addition, the number of mission employees is also  discussed, and this is a mandatory point for the parties.

The National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia is discussing a  draft agreement with the EU, according to which representatives of  the civilian observation mission in the Republic of Armenia (EUMA)  will receive a status equivalent to diplomatic status.
