What is happening in Tavush has nothing to do with border demarcation  -Arman Tatoyan

ArmInfo. What is happening in Tavush has nothing to do with the delimitation and demarcation of the  state border, Armenia's former Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan stated. 

According to him, this is an illegal process, contrary to  international rules, with the prospect of massive violations of our  rights and a threat to security.

"Azerbaijan will not stop there. Azerbaijani armed forces will appear  in the vicinity of the communities of Tavush, which will lead to the  isolation of the communities. In addition, various sections of the  interstate road will become unusable and dangerous, and the so-called  alternative roads will not fill the gap. The Armenians will be  especially at risk -Georgian border traffic through Tavush.

Strategic objects (gas pipelines, water resources, etc.) will become  an Azerbaijani target or will come under the control of Azerbaijan.

There will be new deportations, people will be deprived of the  opportunity to move freely and safely, earn a family income, and  pastures, meadows and arable lands, gardens will become unusable, the  dignity and peace of mind of people will be violated," Tatoyan noted.

"In other words, he continued, what is happening in Syunik, Vayots  Dzor and Gegharkunik will happen, with an emphasis on strategic  security issues. Not to mention the increasing cases of Azerbaijani  mine explosions or shootings near populated areas of Armenia."

"Since November 2020, I have constantly and in every possible way  said that security cannot be separated from people, that human rights  must be placed at the core of Armenia's diplomacy and discussions at  all international platforms. This would help strengthen the  international defense of Armenia, including by protecting state  borders.

What is happening now is the result of a policy pursued with gross  mistakes, which has only strengthened and continues to strengthen  Azerbaijan and weaken the position of Armenia," Tatoyan concluded.

Earlier, Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, during a  conversation with residents of border villages, said that if Yerevan  does not comply with Baku's demands to transfer a number of border  villages to Azerbaijan, then a war will begin. And in case of war,  Trkiye will support Azerbaijan.
