ArmInfo. The opposition MPs were denied information about the provisions o of the peace treaty being discussed with Azerbaijan. National Assembly member from "Armenia" the opposition faction Gegham Manukyan wrote about his Facebook page.
According to him, on February 7, RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said that from now on, opposition MPs will not be allowed to get acquainted with the points of the agreement. "On February 23, we contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to get acquainted with the next package of proposals. Today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs sent an official letter which says: "In order not to disrupt the negotiation process, to exclude indirect negative influence on the process and arbitrary, incorrect public interpretations of the document, we consider it inappropriate at this time provide the requested information," the oppositionist noted.
He added that the letter does not contain any references to this or that point of the current legislation, which would indicate violations by the opposition.
"It is also important to note that after familiarizing ourselves with each new version of the draft agreement, our public comments were in the center of attention of high-ranking Azerbaijani officials who, at the level of the ruling government, expressed criticism about allowing MPs from the Armenian opposition to familiarize themselves with the terms of the document. Thus, the letter, received from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, confirms the well-founded suspicion we previously expressed that the ban on opposition MPs to get acquainted with the negotiation process is another demand of Azerbaijan, which Nikol Pashinyan is fulfilling. We are dealing with another arbitrary step to deliberately obstruct the activities of parliament, the purpose of which is to disrupt the steps to inform the public about the most important agenda for the Armenian people and mislead the country's public by providing one-sided information," the oppositionist concluded.
