ArmInfo. The process of delimitation and demarcation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border aims to clearly define the border line, from which Armenia is on one side and Azerbaijan on the other. Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of the Republic of Armenia Gnel Sanosyan told reporters on March 13.
"There is a certain border line, but delimitation commissions must understand what map they are working with, that is, be guided by the legal basis according to which this line will be drawn," Sanosyan said. In his opinion, it is necessary to be guided by the map that will be acceptable to both parties . "Thanks to this map, there will be cabinet work, delimitation and demarcation work," the minister noted. Speaking about the changes in the Tavush region, Sanosyan said that in those areas there are places that are very close to the border line, in some places it may turn out that they cross the border. This means that in some areas the issue of redevelopment of these areas may arise.
When asked by a journalist whether, according to the administrative-territorial division of the Republic of Armenia, 4 villages of the Tavush region belong to Armenia, the minister answered negatively. "A map acceptable to both sides must be selected, which will form the basis for the process of demarcation and delimitation. After which desk and field work on delimitation and demarcation will begin," Sanosyan said.
He added that work on delimitation and demarcation in the Tavush region has not yet begun, and there are also no specific deadlines. At the same time, he emphasized that Armenia continues to demand from Azerbaijan the territory of 31 non-enclave villages, which are under the control of the Azerbaijani side.
