ArmInfo. At a meeting with Ambassador of France to Armenia Olivier Decottignies, head of the "Armenia" parliamentary faction, Seyran Ohanyan expressed satisfaction with the efforts of Paris to assist the Armenian people.
"On behalf of the faction, I would like to express satisfaction with all the efforts of France, which throughout our history have been aimed at protecting the Armenian people, and today these efforts continue," Ohanyan noted.
In turn, the French diplomat noted that recent months have been marked by tragic developments in Nagorno-Karabakh, which forced France to develop cooperation with Armenia both in the humanitarian field and in the security sector. The Ambassador was interested in the viewpoints of the "Armenia" faction regarding those painful occurrences, the internal political life of Armenia and regional security.
The interlocutors mutually noted the historically established Armenian-French friendly and warm relations. At the same time, the parties touched upon the situation around Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, the state of affairs in the region and in the security sector, as well as issues of Armenian-French cooperation in the defense field.
Ohanyan presented the Ambassador with the chronology of the Karabakh conflict, the wars unleashed by Azerbaijan and numerous violations of the agreements reached, and the treatment of historical and cultural monuments and values of Artsakh that does not correspond to internationally recognized standards. The leader of the faction emphasized the importance of the international community putting pressure and sanctions on Azerbaijan for the crimes committed by this country, which are manifested in atrocities against people, war crimes, and non-return of prisoners.
