ArmInfo. Armenia is considering the possibility of opening a diplomatic mission in Cyprus in the foreseeable future. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced at a joint press conference with his Cypriot counterpart in Yerevan on March 7.
"We will spare no effort to make it happen this year. The presence of diplomatic missions in the capitals of the two countries will only stimulate the further strengthening of our cooperation," the Armenian minister said.
Speaking about the level of bilateral relations, the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry noted that they are at their best level and are of a friendly nature.
Mirzoyan also said that he expressed gratitude to the Cypriot side for the constant assistance provided to Armenia at various levels. "I also expressed gratitude for the assistance provided, including to our compatriots forcibly displaced from Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as for the assistance provided to us on international platforms," Mirzoyan explained, also pointing out the existence of successful bilateral cooperation in context of Armenia's partnership with the EU.
"I would like to emphasize that Armenia is deepening its relations with the European Union. We have a comprehensive partnership agreement (CEPA), in parallel we are studying the possibilities of introducing new mechanisms to deepen cooperation. The tool for liberalizing the visa regime and starting a dialogue on this issue is also among those mechanisms," said the Armenian Foreign Minister.
