ArmInfo.Yerevan expects the Collective Security Treaty Organization to recognize its area of responsibility in the republic. Secretary of the RA Security Council Armen Grigoryan told reporters on March 6.
According to him, we are talking, first of all, about an internationally recognized territory of 29.8 thousand sq. km. "We expect that the CSTO will recognize its area of responsibility in our region, the borders of Armenia with an area of 29.8 thousand square meters, the borders with Azerbaijan, Turkey, Iran and Georgia. Until the CSTO recognizes these borders, this question remains open," Grigoryan said.
The Security Council Secretary recalled that according to the Alma-Ata Declaration of 1991, the administrative borders between Armenia and Azerbaijan were recognized as interstate borders, some of which are currently occupied by a neighboring state. "This border exists and needs to be re-established," Grigoryan emphasized.
At the same time, he noted that he was not familiar with Moscow's proposal to hold interdepartmental consultations on the CSTO issue.
Earlier today, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova said that Yerevan did not respond to the Russian side's initiative to hold consultations in order to alleviate all Armenia's concerns.
RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in an interview with France24 TV channel, stated that the Collective Security Treaty regarding Armenia was not implemented, and the republic froze its participation in the CSTO.
The CSTO Secretariat stated that they had not received relevant notifications from Yerevan.
