ArmInfo. Video footage circulating in the media and social networks, indicating the destruction of the Artsakh Parliament building and the desecration of the Cathedral of the Blessed Virgin Mary, once again confirms Azerbaijan's intentions to destroy the Armenian trace in Nagorno-Karabakh, reads a statement of the initiative "We are!".
It is noted that by encroaching on one of the symbols of Artsakh's democracy, Azerbaijan is sending a clear signal to the world that it considers the issue of a dignified return of Artsakh citizens to their homeland closed.
"The civil initiative "We Are" expresses outrage at yet another act of vandalism in our homeland and demands that the Azerbaijani authorities stop the atrocities in Artsakh.
We address:
- To the public and authorities of Artsakh and Armenia with the demand to protect our individual and collective rights and condemn the Armenophobic policies of Azerbaijan;
- To the authorities of the Russian Federation, which have been carrying out a peacekeeping mission since November 2020, with the requirement to remain faithful to their mediation obligations and, at a minimum, to prevent such manifestations of vandalism "in the area of responsibility of the Russian Federation";
- To the leaders of Western countries and institutions striving for the speedy signing of the so-called "peace treaty", demanding a targeted assessment of what happened and protection of the rights of our population not in words, but "on the ground."
We, citizens of Artsakh and Armenia, appeal to the international community with a cry for help. Today our parliament is being destroyed in Nagorno-Karabakh, tomorrow our houses and cemeteries will be razed to the ground. The unbridledness of Azerbaijan is a response to your silence and indifference. The world must decide between oil and human rights. We have the right to a homeland and a decent life in the land of our ancestors.
We exist, and that means the Karabakh page cannot simply be turned," the statement says. It should be noted that on March 3, late in the evening, discouraging footage of the bulldozing of the buildings of the Artsakh Parliament and the "Liberator Warriors" on Renaissance Square in Stepanakert, occupied by Azerbaijan, spread across the World Wide Web.
Azerbaijani vandals also desecrated the Surb Astvatsatsin (Holy Mother of God) Cathedral in occupied Stepanakert.
