ArmInfo. The European Parliament adopted two resolutions calling on the European Union to impose sanctions against Azerbaijan. Secretary of the ruling "Civil Contract" faction of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Artur Hovhannisyan, wrote on his Facebook page.
He noted that the European Parliament called for the immediate sanctions against Azerbaijan and the suspension of the memorandum of understanding on the strategic energy partnership.
The EP also calls on the EU leadership to be prepared to introduce targeted and individual sanctions against the political and military leadership of Azerbaijan and to suspend supplies of oil and gas to the European market in the event of any military aggression by Azerbaijan against Armenia. In addition, the European Parliament insists on strengthening the mandate of the EU civilian observer mission in Armenia (EUMA) by increasing its staff, extending its duration in the country and placing observers on the border with Turkey. The EP also called for stopping all negotiations with Azerbaijan on a new partnership agreement.
