Zakharova says Armenian PM`s accusations about calls by Russian  politicians to carry out coup in Armenia are groundless

ArmInfo. The claims of the Prime Minister of Armenia against Russia regarding public calls for  the overthrow of the current Armenian authorities have no basis.  Spokesperson of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, stated on February 28 during a weekly briefing.

"Russian officials have never allowed even a hint of calls for the  overthrow of legally elected authorities, anywhere. And, by the way,  I would like the official Yerevan when they talk about such things,  to remember that we adhere a similar approach to both the current and  former authorities of Yerevan, and indeed, to any sovereign state,"  she said.

At the same time, Zakharova wondered whether the current authorities  of Armenia adhere to the same logic in relation to other countries or  in relation to their own internal political process.  "I think it  would be nice to discuss this topic. We remember recent developments.  What happened several years ago. But the Russian authorities have  never allowed even a hint of a call for the overthrow of legally  elected authorities. Can the current leadership boast the same  approach Armenia in relation to the previous authorities," she asked.

At the same time, Zakharova noted that no matter what happens, Moscow  and Yerevan remain allies, and this is the most important thing.  "Unfortunately, for some reason in Yerevan they pay the least  attention to this, they examine some information component under a  magnifying glass, for some reason refusing journalists to prepare  some reports," the diplomat said, once again emphasizing that Moscow  has not taken any purposeful actions to destroy relations with  Yerevan, but on the contrary, proposed to resolve all emerging issues  through dialogue.

At the same time, Zakharova stated with regret that Moscow does not  yet see any reciprocal steps from Yerevan in this regard. "All this  has no basis. Well, if it does, then let it be provided," the  diplomat concluded.

Earlier, the Prime Minister of Armenia, in an interview with a French  authoritative publication, said that Russia called for a coup in  Armenia.
