ArmInfo.Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Mher Grigoryan received the delegation headed by Adrienn Kiraly, the newly appointed Director for Neighborhood East & Institution Building of the Directorate-General for Neighborhood and Enlargement Negotiations of the European Commission. Head of the EU Delegatio government reports.
At the beginning of the meeting, Adrienn Kiraly handed over to the Deputy Prime Minister the agreement signed by the EU on financing budget support aimed at meeting the priority needs of forcibly displaced persons from Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as an agreement on financing technical assistance aimed at implementing CEPA components. The Deputy Prime Minister congratulated Adrienn Kiraly on her appointment, expressing confidence that through joint efforts the RA-EU cooperation will deepen. Mher Grigoryan, highly appreciating the cooperation with the EU, emphasized the importance of the process of implementing the RA-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA) and the implementation of joint programs developed within the framework of the Economic and Investment Plan from the point of view of sustainable development of Armenia.
During the meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan presented the EU delegation with the main goals and principles of the Crossroads of the World project, emphasizing its importance from the point of view of establishing stability and lasting peace in the region. In this context, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of Armenia's participation in large regional infrastructure projects and expressed hope that the "Crossroads of Peace" will become an integral part of the "Global Gateway" initiative.
The interlocutors pointed to promising areas of cooperation, in particular in the areas of human capital development, infrastructure development, trade and economics. Particular emphasis was placed on ongoing and planned reforms in the field of public administration and digitalization, which should correspond to modern trends. The "Academic City" initiative announced by the Government and its main goals were also discussed.
