ArmInfo. DMP from the <Armenia> opposition faction Artur Khachatryan does not rule out the visit of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to the republic.
It was reported earlier that the visit of the head of state of Ukraine may take place on March 4, the visit will be regional. Apart from Yerevan, Zelenskyy will also visit Baku.
"To be honest, I do not exclude this possibility, because Zelenskyy, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev are like-minded people on the Artsakh issue. Remember the posters posted in Kyiv that "Karabakh is Azerbaijan," Zelenskyy's congratulations to Aliyev in connection with the "restoration of territorial integrity," etc. Pashinyan is the supporter of the same policy, so nothing should be surprising," the MP told reporters on February 26, adding that this visit will give Armenia absolutely nothing but risks and dangers. In particular, as Khachatryan emphasized, this visit will once again cause the indignation of Armenia's allies in the CSTO.
Speaking about Pashinyan's statement about freezing relations with the CSTO, Khachatryan emphasized that there is no such thing as "a little pregnant." "If you declare that, then say so officially. And then, is there an alternative to the CSTO, especially in the current difficult conditions, when security threats in the world have sharply worsened? Even such neutral countries as Sweden and Finland joined NATO. What does Pashinyan offer us? He talks about Armenia's non-bloc status, which is reminiscent of Aesop's fable "The Fox and the Grapes," when the fox, seeing ripe grapes at the top of the vine, could not reach them, and, leaving, said that they were still green," the oppositionist emphasized.
He recalled the steps taken by the country's authorities aimed at worsening relations with the CSTO, ranging from the recall of the organization's Secretary General Yuri Khachaturov to ignoring participation in the work of the CSTO. NATO, as Khachatryan noted, is in no hurry to protect the interests of Armenia. As a result, the country's authorities apparently wished to remain alone.
