ArmInfo.At the European Weightlifting Championships, which takes place in the capital of Bulgaria, Armenian weightlifter Varazdat Lalayan won gold for the first time in his career, becoming the European champion. Lalayan is a two-time world vice-champion in weightlifting with a result of 455 kg.
In the same weight category, another representative of Armenia, Simon Martirosyan, with a result of 437 kg, became the European vice-champion.
"On the last day of the European Weightlifting Championships, Armenian weightlifters completed the brilliant performances of our team in the best possible way," the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports said in a statement.
Armenia is the leader in the team competition of the 2024 European Weightlifting Championships in terms of the number of medals. In particular, the Armenian team won 4 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals.
