ArmInfo. The movement that began in February 1988 was invincible, since the Armenian people formed their own agenda, which was completely free from foreign influence, propaganda cliches and alien programs imposed from outside. Vice-chairman of the Armenian National Congress party Levon Zurabyan wrote on his Facebook page on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the Artsakh movement.
According to Zurabyan, the old Soviet system was discredited, and other powers had not yet had time to take advantage of the resulting vacuum and reach out to the people who were enjoying the taste of freedom. "The main secret of our victory was this, we were confident and naive, with this naive confidence and our boundless sense of rightness we overthrew the conspiracies and interventions of predatory forces," the politician noted.
He added that the Armenian people lost Victory and Artsakh when geopolitical programs, ideological campaigns and the influence of foreign elites and the cobwebs of their spy network gradually divided its agenda. "Unnoticedly, our society was divided into insiders and outsiders, who began to hate each other and lost the purpose and meaning of the movement. Our state system found itself in the same situation, which, from an implementer of its own agenda, turned into a toy of many foreign powers, abandoning its only mission - serving the interests of the Armenian people. But the ideas of the movement are alive, and the secret of Victory remains the same. May God give us the strength to rediscover the true state-creative spirit that comes from the depths of the souls of our people, and someday again earn the glory of the spirit of the victorious Movement of 1988," the politician emphasized.
On February 20, 1988, the extraordinary session of the Council of People's Deputies 20th convocation of NKAO passed a decision to appeal to the Supreme Councils of the Azerbaijani SSR and Armenian SSR "to demonstrate a sense of deep understanding of the aspirations of the Armenian population of Nagorno Karabakh and resolve the issue of transferring NKAO from the Azerbaijani SSR to the Armenian SSR, at the same time to intercede with the Supreme Council of the USSR to reach a positive resolution on the issue of transferring the region from the Azerbaijani SSR to the Armenian SSR".
