ArmInfo.Ambassador of Russia to Armenia Sergei Kopyrkin paid a working visit to Gegharkunik region.
As part of his trip to Gavar, Kopyrkin met with the Deputy Governor of the Gegharkunik Region Vahan Zaroyan.
The main directions of Russian-Armenian humanitarian and regional cooperation were discussed at the meeting. In particular, interaction in the field of education and communication between the Gegharkunik region and the regions of Russia.
"This year Armenia is presiding over the EAEU, and we positively assess its contribution to the Union and the development of the single market," Sergei Kopyrkin noted.
The interlocutors also touched upon the problems of refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh and the assistance provided by the Russian side.
Vahan Zaroyan noted that 6 thousand 800 people from Nagorno-Karabakh arrived in the region. The government will soon begin construction of a residential complex for them. He thanked the Russian diplomatic mission for cooperation and highly appreciated all the programs being implemented.
Kopyrkin also visited the Russian language and culture centers opened in Gavar.
"The center is working successfully. This is a place that attracts children. It is interesting for them here. I am sure that this will be educational for them. What they do here is very important from the point of view of education, upbringing, broadening their horizons. This is what strengthens our relationship," said the diplomat.
The MIR Foundation (International Institute for the Development of Communications) in collaboration with the Russian National Research Institute of Communication the Development (NRICD), has established a unique space for children in the region, to study the Russian language, culture and history of Armenian-Russian friendship. The center is a cultural and educational project established by the joint efforts of the Armenian and Russian sides.
In May last year, free MIR centers for studying Russian language and culture were opened in the cities of Sevan, Gavar and Areni, where children aged 6-17 years have the opportunity not only to learn Russian, but also to get acquainted with the history and culture of Russia, to immerse into the history of friendship between two countries: Russia and Armenia, master the basics of modern professions. The centers are equipped with modern equipment and an extensive library containing literature by Russian, Armenian and foreign authors in Russian. Experienced teachers organize holidays, excursions, readings, Olympiads, meetings with famous representatives of various professions from Russia and Armenia.
