ArmInfo.Armenia's Premier Nikol Pashinyan believes the Alma- Ata Declaration concerns Ukraine as well.
According to Pashinyan, the Alma-Ata Declaration concerns not only Armenia, but also all 13 post-Soviet states that recognized it, including Ukraine and the Russian Federation. "They themselves were the initiators, since it began with the Belovezha Accords, by which Russia, Ukraine and Belarus decided that the Soviet Union no longer existed, and they became independent states, recognizing each other's borders. We proceed from the fact that the Alma-Ata Declaration is the foundation for the recognition of our independence and territorial integrity, and the same, according to our logic, should be applicable to Ukraine. This document concerns all of us, and its destruction could lead to the destruction of everything," Pashinyan said at a meeting with Armenians from Munich.
According to him, he said two years ago that Armenia is not an ally of Russia on the issue of Ukraine. "And this is our sincere position. It pains us very much that we cannot influence this situation. The Ukrainian people are friendly people," said the Armenian Prime Minister.
Touching on the talk about changing the foreign policy vector of Armenia, Pashinyan said that the goal of Yerevan's foreign policy is to preserve territorial integrity, independence and sovereignty. <In relations with the EU and in general with all our Western partners, I attach importance not only to material relations, but also to relations based on values. We must proceed from whether democracy is important to us or not. Our relations with the EU today are developing thanks to democracy. The EU supports us on the issue of democracy, and we are also learning what democracy is," he said.
