ArmInfo.Former Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan, whowas sent under house arrest by the court, does not see any political implications in what is happening around him. He told reporters before the court verdict was announced.
According to him, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has nothing to do with either the trial or his dismissal. The Prime Minister's chief of staff, Arayik Harutyunyan, without giving reasons, invited him to write a letter of resignation, and he agreed.
"They said that the issue of your dismissal has been resolved: And this is the case, when I won't stay for a minute longer if my work is no longer in demand, ," said the former minister. He refused to comment on the details of the criminal case, citing the fact that the investigation is ongoing. At the same time, Kerobyan pointed out, he is grateful to the head of government for the opportunity to work as part of the Cabinet.
In response to a remark from journalists that there are rumors that MPs from the Civil Contract party Gevorg Papoyan or Babken Tunyan will be appointed to the post of Minister of Economy, Kerobyan replied: "Very good."
Kerobyan, who announced his resignation on February 14, is accused of abuse and exceeding official powers in a case of abuse in the Ministry of Economy of Armenia. He does not admit guilt. The Anti- Corruption Court in Yerevan today, February 16, sent him under house arrest for a period of two months. According to him, he will appeal the decision.
