ArmInfo. The mayor's office wants to increase prices for urban transport, this by the fact that the unit cost of transporting passengers on new buses exceeds 100 drams. Leader of the Mother Armenia movement Andranik Tevanyan wrote on his Facebook page.
Describing the prices set by the authorities as extortionate, Tevanyan said that the latter propose setting the cost of a yearly subscription for up to 1,000 trips at 110,000 drams. Meanwhile, to use all types of transport in Tbilisi (bus, metro, cable car) and without limit of number, the annual subscription price is 250 lari, or 37,500 drams.
Describing the prices set by the authorities as predatory, Tevanyan said that the latter propose to set the annual subscription price for up to 1,000 trips at 110,000 drams.
In addition, the leader of the Movement spoke about a "70 minutes" paper QR ticket with the opportunity to make 3 trips within 70 minutes from the moment of activation (subject to one-time use in each vehicle), each use costs 100 drams. A similar card in Tbilisi is valid for 90 minutes, without restrictions on quantity and for the use of all types of transport, the price of which is 1 lari, i.e. 150 dram. In addition, the card can pass from hand to hand, that is, several people can use this card. "Let the illegitimate authorities of Yerevan and their leader not try to tell fairy tales that it is impossible not to raise the price of reformed transport. They have not carried out any reforms, but they still want to increase tariffs," Tevanyan wrote.
After "digesting" the increase in parking costs in Yerevan by more than 10 times (from 12 thousand, the amount increased to 160 thousand drams), the capital authorities, decided to increase the cost of public transport in the city.
Deputy Mayor of Yerevan Suren Grigoryan said during a recent press conference that different tariff packages will apply to public transport, so it was difficult to indicate the exact amount of the price increase. At the same time, he said that when calculating for 60 trips per month (we are talking about 30 calendar days), you will need to pay 11,000 drams in cash for a ticket, and when paying through the Telcell system - 10,800 drams. Similarly, quarterly and annual tickets will cost 25 thousand drams (via Telcell 24.8 thousand drams) and 110 thousand drams (108 thousand drams) respectively. "Accordingly, the cost of a one-way trip on one type of transport will be 180 drams, instead of the current 100," he said. According to data circulated in the media, the cost of transport travel will range from 300 to 500 drams per trip. Let us note that this is an unaffordable price for citizens, many of whose monthly income is less than $200.
