ArmInfo. Today, the main resources of the state should be directed to the army, both in terms of urgent programs and long-term ones. If this is not done in parallel, the consequences will be catastrophic, stated Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition faction With Honor.
The politician recalled that on February 2, the Minister of Defense of Armenia said that several thousand military personnel of the country's Armed Forces had passed certification and were receiving higher salaries, but "forgot" to mention that even more military personnel had not even passed the required certification threshold. He added that this is also in conditions where the certification is voluntary and, in general, already trained military personnel apply for it.
"This is a mandatory condition for military personnel awaiting career advancement. Moreover, for objective and subjective reasons, 1-1.3 years after the adoption of the law on certification, a small part of the army was able to take part in this process.
"I continue to insist that even within the framework of this law, if an appropriate procedure had been established, a certain result could have been achieved, but, as in other issues, the government is taking the slowest, worst path," the oppositionist added.
At the same time, he believes that based on the priorities of the Armed Forces and the defense of the country, if we put certification aside, then as an imperative, we should at least take the path of a significant increase (about 50 thousand drams) in bonuses for personnel serving combat duty. According to him, otherwise the existing acute problems will reach such a volume that they will not solve even the slightest problems facing the army.
"Here I'm talking not so much about a salary increase as a motivation, but about the possibility of solving the minimal problems of military personnel and their families, in which it will not only be possible to "maintain the house" normally, but also the serviceman will have the opportunity to concentrate on service, and not on hard work. life," Abrahamyan concluded.
