ArmInfo. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan once again expressed dissatisfaction with the coat of arms and anthem of the Republic of Armenia.
<Our anthem is the most important text that we can and should have. Our anthem contains the word <enemy>: "Let it shine before the enemies, Let there always be Armenia!" This means that the perception of the enemy is the most important part of our worldview. No matter what we do, our enemy is always present. And it doesn't matter whether we declare it or not," he said in an interview with Public Radio. Back in June 2023, Pashinyan stated in the country's parliament that the current emblem of the republic has no relation to the state, which was founded in 1991. As the head of the Armenian Cabinet of Ministers pointed out, the emblem of the republic depicts Ararat with Noah's Ark on top, as well as the coats of arms of the four dynasties of Armenia. In his opinion, the emblem of the republic is hardly connected with the statehood of Armenia. Pashinyan also drew attention to the fact that the coat of arms depicts a lion, "which has not lived in the natural conditions of Armenia for a long time."
The other day, Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Alen Simonyan announced the need to change the national anthem and the country's coat of arms. "It is obvious to me that the anthem of the Republic of Armenia must sooner or later change, it must be Armenian, have a connection with our state and Armenian music and comply with the rules for performing the anthem," the speaker wrote on his Telegram channel. He also pointed out the possibility of discussing the issue of changing the coat of arms.
