ArmInfo. Armenia must strengthen its army, make it combat-ready to protect itsterritorial integrity, sovereignty and independence. And the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia is identical to the territorial integrity of the Armenian SSR. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated in an interview with the Public Radio of Armenia.
The Prime Minister pointed out that ensuring the security of the state is the number one task of any government. In modern conditions, the issue is especially relevant for many countries of the world. According to Pashinyan, this goal can be achieved, first of all, by carrying out reforms in the country's Armed Forces and strengthening the power of the army. The second important tool for ensuring security is diplomacy, <the country's foreign relations>. The issue of legitimacy should be added to the list, he noted. "For me, legitimacy is expressed in the internationally recognized borders of Armenia," Pashinyan said. It is in the context of this point that the Prime Minister calls for considering the abovementioned security tools.
"If you have a strong and combat-ready army to achieve legitimate goals, no one can tell you why you are strengthening your army. If you set a task, the purpose of which the external environment, the international community may doubt it, then you may have many problems," he noted.
Thus, the head of the Cabinet emphasized, no one can blame the Republic of Armenia for strengthening the army if the goal is to ensure the security of the country. But, if this is done, for example, "to restore historical justice," a reasonable question arises as to why others should allow the country to strengthen its army.
