ArmInfo. A textbook on Armenian history of a new type is not an order from Azerbaijan, it is the conviction and approaches of the current authorities of Armenia, which completely coincide with the Turkish-Azerbaijani genocidal policy towards the Armenian people. A similar opinion was expressed by Larisa Alaverdyan, the first Human Rights Defender of Armenia, as part of a protest rally near the building of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, demanding the resignation of the head of the department.
She noted that human rights include not just any education, but also the right to quality education. Ms. Alaverdyan added that it is necessary to fight to the end, and not be limited to street actions. For example, she noted that it would be advisable to organize a meeting with Minister Zhanna Andreasyan and her deputy, who oversees the relevant areas, in order to discuss the existing problems face to face. "There needs to be open discussions," she said.
The former Defender emphasized that history textbooks must be written anew, for which there is an appropriate professional resource. "I think we have to fight as hard as we can until we achieve our goals. Even if I'm alone, I'll come again. If we can't light a fire, then we can light a candle," she said. Larisa Alaverdyan also called on teachers who falsified voting results at polling stations not to distort the history of Armenia.
Let us note that this is the second protest rally near the building of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine demanding the resignation of Zhanna Andreasyan. The participants of the action reported that their next meeting will be held on February 14, but in the meantime other measures will be taken, including informational ones.
Let us recall that at the end of last year, the scientific community of Armenia, after examining a new textbook on the history of Armenia for grade 7, came to the conclusion that the latter does not meet the necessary conditions for admission to the curriculum for secondary schools. Referring to the results of the examination, historians called on the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia to remove these textbooks from the school curriculum.
The study noted that the textbook for grade 7 "History of Armenia", compiled by Smbat Hovhannisyan, contains complex problems of a conceptual, methodological, scientific, educational, pedagogical nature, technical plan, etc.
"The inaccuracies of the historical time frames, dates contained in the textbook, judgments based on hypothetical thinking, arbitrary selection of extremely important visual materials, as well as ignoring the psychological, age-related characteristics of pedagogical approaches, the lack of a comprehensive examination of the content lead to the conclusion that the textbook in this form is not may be applicable in the educational process," the examination says.
