ArmInfo. The Republic of Armenia has not received a note from the Russian Federation regarding the change of its ambassador. Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia Vahan Kostanyan stated on January 29 in a conversation with journalists, answering a question about Moscow's intentions to change the Russian Ambassador to Armenia.
The Deputy Foreign Minister said that he was not aware of this circumstance, and the country's Foreign Ministry had not received any note on this matter.
"As for the appointment of a new ambassador of Armenia to Russia, since the agreation has already been sent, when there is news, it will be properly informed," said the Deputy Foreign Minister of Armenia. The diplomat also commented on the issue of preserving the Armenian cultural heritage in Artsakh and assured that it is always on the agenda of the Armenian Foreign Ministry.
"This issue is being raised both in the executive body of UNESCO and in other relevant departments. If you remember, in December 2020, the UNESCO Executive Board decided to send a fact-finding mission to Nagorno-Karabakh to monitor the situation with cultural heritage monuments 'on the ground', Kostanyan said, adding that they are constantly working to ensure that the visit of this mission takes place. At the same time, referring to the fact that RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced the proposals made to Azerbaijan regarding mutual arms control and renunciation of attacks, Kostanyan noted that it was a political statement.
At the same time, he added that if there are appropriate positive responses, discussions will naturally move to another stage.
"We remain sincerely interested in a complete settlement of relations with our neighbors and the signing of a peace agreement. You know that on January 4 we sent a revised version of the text of the relevant agreement. In fact, we are waiting for Azerbaijan's response. Yesterday there were statements that a response would be within a few weeks," he said, referring to the signing of the peace agreement. To the question whether Armenia has joined the documents of the CSTO summit in Minsk, which the CSTO Secretary General brought with him to Yerevan, Kostanyan answered that they are under discussion.
