This is stated in the statement of the RA National Security Service in response to the thesis regularly voiced by the official Baku about Yerevan's alleged refusal to provide information about the missing citizens of Azerbaijan.
In addition, the source notes, the bones of 140 Azerbaijanis who died in the 1990s, received from representatives of Nagorno-Karabakh, were transferred to Azerbaijan.
"We consider it necessary to remind that since the beginning of the 1990s, in the 44-day war of 2020 and after that, 993 citizens of the Republic of Armenia and Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh are considered missing. Yerevan is seriously interested in clarifying their fates. The Republic of Armenia has repeatedly stated that including, at the highest level, that it is ready to cooperate with the Republic of Azerbaijan in order to clarify the fate of missing persons," the statement said.
It also emphasizes that the Interdepartmental Commission of the Republic of Armenia on the Issues of Prisoners, Hostages and Missing Persons, in pursuance of the decision recorded in the joint statement of the Office of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and the Administration of the President of Azerbaijan dated December 7, 2023, invites the relevant body of the Republic of Azerbaijan to intensify cooperation.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry issued a statement demanding that Armenia take urgent measures to transmit information about the fate of Azerbaijanis who have disappeared over the past 30 years, as well as the location of their mass graves.
