ArmInfo. Armenia will transfer 8 new maps of minefields in Artsakh to Azerbaijan, copies will be transferred to international partners, the National Security Service (NSS) of the Republic of Armenia reports.
The national security body noted that Armenia, as a sign of its commitment to the peace agenda with Azerbaijan and based on humanitarian considerations, on June 12, July 3, October 19, November 1 and November 29, 2021, without preconditions, handed over 972 data sheet (forms) of minefields on the territory of Artsakh to representatives of Azerbaijan.
"After this unilateral humanitarian step, Azerbaijan launched an information campaign, accusing Armenia of providing inaccurate and incomplete forms and using the humanitarian step to incite hatred. Representatives of Armenia have repeatedly stated at the public and working levels that there are simply no better quality maps available. And the transferred maps were obtained through NK servicemen," the NSS statement says.
It is noted that after several reports of the last period in the Azerbaijani media about injuries to Azerbaijani citizens as a result of mine explosions, and in continuation of the agreement reached as a result of negotiations on December 7, 2023 between the office of the Prime Minister of Armenia and the administration of the President of Azerbaijan on the implementation of significant steps towards building trust between the two states, the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia resumed survey work among former NK servicemen, as a result of which 8 new forms were found.
"These forms will be transferred to the Azerbaijani side through working channels in the coming days. Their copies will be sent to international partners," noted the National Security Service of the Republic of Armenia.
