ArmInfo. Azerbaijan's actions cause great damage to the strategic goals of the West in the South Caucasus, Tigran Abrahamyan, a member of the With Honor parliamentary faction, wrote on his Facebook account, commenting on the PACE decision against ratifying the credentials of the Azerbaijani delegation.
As Abrahamyan noted, the West is tightening its policy towards Azerbaijan. "This is largely due to the fact that Baku, through its actions, causes great damage to the strategic goals of the West in the South Caucasus. What does this entail in the first place? In the context of an aggressive confrontation with Russia, the West is trying to take control of the situation in the region, which "This stage involves the establishment of peace and stability. This is a process that the Russian Federation has always kept under its control after the collapse of the Soviet Union?" the MP stressed.
He noted that at the moment there is a big struggle in determining the rules of the game, and Azerbaijan, in fact, does not comply with internal agreements with the West. "The agreement is as follows: Artsakh is transferred to Azerbaijan, and issues related to Armenia are resolved through negotiations. By putting forward new territorial claims against Armenia, as well as failing to work in the main areas, Azerbaijan is failing the prospect of peace, which is not included in the calculations of the West. Precisely therefore, the West is becoming much tougher right now, and not before the 44-day war unleashed by Azerbaijan, or until complete control over Artsakh," the politician emphasized.
Abrahamyan believes that the main reasons that officially form the basis for the application of sanctions against Azerbaijan are the problems recorded in previous years. "But again, political expediency is forcing the West to take such steps at the moment," the MP wrote.
